I recently participated in a Providers’ Council HR Roundtable focused on the importance of recruiting millennials for human services organizations. The panel agreed that organizations need to think about and implement strategies for the successful recruitment and management of the collective talent of this generation. In order to maximize the impact of recruiting efforts, panelists had the following key suggestions:
- Opportunities for Advancement: Offer clear defined career growth opportunities
- Community: Create a sense of community, including offering access to leadership and the chance to contribute in open forums
- Appearances: Looks do matter. Consider aesthetic changes to the office environment to appeal to millennials
- Recruiting Methods: Explore different recruiting methods. Examine all possibilities including social media, WebEx and text messages
The Providers’ Council published an article on this panel discussion in its March 2017 newspaper, titled “Adaptability a Key to Success in Recruiting, Retaining Millennials.” Access the full article.
