Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month
¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!
September 15 to October 15
The observance began as a single week in 1968 and expanded to 30 days in 1988.
The start date is deliberate:
- September 15 marks the independence days of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
- Mexico follows on September 16
- Chile on September 18
- Belize on September 21
- October 12 is Día de la Raza.
This month, take a few minutes to read, watch, or listen to something new, support a Hispanic-owned business, or ask a colleague about where their family comes from.
Below are places to start.
