Getting to Know You: IT Manager, Gio Morales

At Insource, our people are at the heart of how we serve clients and communities. This edition of our recruitment series spotlights Gio Morales, an IT Manager who still says there isn’t a day that goes by without learning something new.

From client to colleague

Gio first met Insource from the other side of the table. As a former client, he worked with our team beginning in 2013 and stayed in touch over the years, reaching out whenever a complex network challenge needed trusted hands. When he was ready to move into consulting, Insource was the first call.

A thoughtful interview process

What stood out to Gio during hiring was the care taken to find the right fit. Alongside conversations with the IT team, he interviewed with leaders across the company, including our VPs and CEO! It was an experience that signalled how intentionally Insource builds its teams.

Goals, growth, and that consultant mindset

Coming from 15 years in education, Gio’s early goal was simple: learn how to be a consultant: to communicate recommendations with confidence and earn client trust. The biggest early challenge was balancing that learning curve with a growing client workload. Over time, he found his stride and, with it, a work–life balance he describes as “ultimate.”

What a “typical” day looks like

No two days are the same. Gio splits his time between client meetings, mentoring the people he manages, and driving projects from first idea to final hand-off, partnering closely with engineers and support staff. And when the inevitable fire pops up, it’s handled – calmly and collaboratively.

Learning at every level

Ask Gio what opportunities stand out and he’ll tell you: the wealth of internal knowledge. He learns from everyone: support staff, engineers, and senior administrators. Whether it’s a new tool, a better time-management trick, or how to navigate a tough client conversation with clarity and empathy, every day brings something new.

Supportive culture, real flexibility

Gio calls Insource’s culture the best of his career. Need to take a child to an appointment? No hesitation. There’s support. The team invests in understanding how each person works best (yes, even down to shared language around work styles) and meets people where they are so they can thrive, both at work and at home.

Impact he’s proud of

With his first and primary client, Gio and a close colleague partnered with the client to overhaul IT operations and spending, optimizing services, removing redundancy, and saving the organization over a million dollars. With that foundation, ongoing collaboration across departments helped the organization move from red to black. “That’s what makes my job fun,” he says.

And while he left education, Gio still feels deeply connected to purpose. Working with schools, community health centers, and nonprofits means his day-to-day efforts continue to support missions that matter.

Life beyond tickets and timelines

Gio is a proud dad of two and recently returned to work after paternity leave. Evenings might include a puzzle, some video games, or trying something new, like learning to crochet. (Current projects include a penguin and a bunny for the kids)

“Is Insource the right fit?”

“Absolutely. 100%. Hands down.” Gio says he’s well past any “honeymoon phase” and sees Insource as a long-term home – a place where he’s supported, challenged, and able to make a difference every day.
