June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month

Imagine sitting across from someone you care about — a colleague, a friend, a brother — and not knowing they’re struggling. Not because they don’t need help, but because somewhere along the way, they were taught that asking for it wasn’t an option. That’s the reality for millions of men every day.

Men are 4 times more likely to die by suicide than women, yet remain among the least likely to seek mental health support. The silence isn’t indifference — it’s the weight of a lifetime of messaging that says “stay strong,” “push through,” “handle it alone.” Mental health struggles in men don’t always look the way we expect. They show up in the colleague who seems distant. The team member who’s always the last to leave. The person who laughs it off, every time. We may not always see it — but we can always create space for it.

At Insource, we believe the workplace should be one of the first places people feel safe — not one of the last.

That starts with how we show up for each other every single day. It means leading with humanity before the task list — pausing to ask “How are you, really?” and actually waiting for the answer. It means sitting with someone in a hard moment without needing to fix it, because presence alone is more powerful than we realize. It means speaking openly and without shame, because when leaders and colleagues talk honestly about mental health, it gives everyone else permission to do the same. Silence is contagious — but so is courage.

It also means using our time intentionally — encouraging breaks, respecting boundaries, and reminding our teams that rest is not a reward, it’s a requirement. It means keeping resources visible so that someone who isn’t ready to raise their hand can still quietly reach. And it means keeping the door open, literally and figuratively, so that the people around us always know they have a safe place to land.

At Insource, no one should have to carry it alone. Our strength as an organization comes from the people within it — and that means investing in the whole person, not just the professional. This month, let’s commit to being the kind of workplace where asking for help is met with support, not silence.

At Insource, we love solving problems and making things work better for our clients.
