Should I or Shouldn’t I Upgrade to OS X El Capitan?
Apple has recently released OS X El Capitan, their desktop operating system for Macintosh computers. While we all want to be on the latest and greatest system, we caution to take your time before upgrading. Our technology consultants have noticed that these upgrades from Yosemite have caused issues connecting to wireless networks or even breaking the computer completely, aka “Bricking.”
Before upgrading all your organization’s laptops, we urge you to:
- See if you can upgrade just one laptop to test before rolling out to whole network.
- Call your wireless manufacturer to check on compatibility and any recent support updates.
- Have a rollback plan in case the upgrade does not go as well as expected.
- As always, seek guidance from your IT experts and if anything seems off, let them know ASAP.
